11-Year-Old Arrested After Crashing a Stolen Car

PORTLAND — On Wednesday May 25, 2016, at 8:27 a.m., North Precinct officers responded to the report of a drunk driver that crashed into two parked cars in the 4200 block of North Juneau Street. As officers were responding to the scene they received additional information that the driver was leaving the scene of the crash.

Officers responding to the area located the suspect vehicle in the 3300 block of North Farragut Street, approximately one mile from the original crash scene. The driver and occupants of the vehicle ran from the car and hid in the neighborhood before being located by police and taken into custody.

Officers learned that the suspect vehicle was stolen and that the driver was an 11-year-old male who was also a reported runaway. A 13-year-old male passenger also was a reported runaway.

Officers learned that the vehicle was stolen and the driver crashed into at least three vehicles during this episode. Nobody was injured by the driver’s actions.

The 11-year-old and 13-year-old were lodged at the Donald E. Long Juvenile Detention Home (JDH) for Unlawful Use of a Motor Vehicle. Additional charges may be added by the Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office at a later time.
