NASHVILLE, TENN. — Wednesday morning, Hermitage Precinct detectives with the Metro Nashville Police Department charged Amarion Johnson, 14, with Tuesday night’s shooting death of Geovany Hernandez, also 14, in the street outside 130 Nashboro Greens.

Hermitage Precinct officers responded to the call at 6:37 p.m. They found Hernandez down in the street and worked to keep him alive until the ambulance arrived. He was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he died.

Investigation by Detective Will Mathis and his colleagues led to the identification of Johnson, who was taken into custody at his Long Hunter Court home early today.

The motive for the shooting remains under investigation. It was also unclear how the child obtained the firearm.
