14-Year-Old Charged As Adult in Brutal Slaying of 86-Year-Old Woman

CALIFORNIA — A 14-year-old youth has been charged with special circumstance murder for the killing of an 86-year-old Lancaster woman, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced today.

Steven Frankland, Head Deputy of the Antelope Valley Branch, said Tony Donnell Brown of Lancaster was charged as an adult yesterday with one count of murder and two counts of first-degree burglary, person present.

Case MA066321 includes a special circumstance allegation that the murder was committed during a first-degree burglary and a special allegation that the defendant used a knife.

Following an initial court appearance, arraignment was scheduled for July 23 in Department A01 of the Los Angeles County Superior Court, Antelope Valley Branch.

On June 18, Brown is accused of breaking into victim Annie Margaret Bell’s home and stabbing her multiple times while she lay in bed, Frankland said.

Bail for the defendant has been set at $1 million.

If convicted as charged, Brown faces a possible maximum sentence of 26 years to life in state prison.
