NASHVILLE, Tennessee — Metro detectives are pursuing strong leads as they work to identify the gunman responsible for Tuesday night’s fatal shooting of Rowneshia S. Overton, 15, outside 3117 Greggwood Drive.

The investigation to this point shows that two teenage girls were to have fought each other on Greggwood Drive as part of a lingering dispute.  Each of the girls had separate factions of support.  Overton, of Delta Avenue, was a passenger in a vehicle with three other teens who were going to back one of the females who was to have fought.

As they arrived in the area of Greggwood and Gwynwood Drives, shots were fired at their vehicle by a person believed to have been part of the other faction.  Overton was hit and was driven by her friends to Skyline Medical Center where she died.

A woman in an accompanying vehicle, Antonisia Mona McQuiddy, 18, received a graze wound to her hip and was treated at Skyline.

Detectives have interviewed a number of witnesses and today are working to identify and locate others in the effort to confirm the name of the shooter.
