2 Men Charged With Raping 9-Month-Old, Recording Act On Cell Phone

MEMPHIS, TENN. — – Two men were indicted Tuesday on rape and sexual exploitation charges after a mother found cell phone video of the men abusing her 9-month-old daughter, said Shelby County Dist. Atty. Gen. Amy Weirich.

Defendants Isiah Dequan Hayes, 19, and Daireus Jumare Ice, 22, are being held in the Shelby County Jail.

Hayes was indicted on aggravated rape of a child, while Ice was indicted on aggravated rape of a child (criminal responsibility for conduct of another.) Both were indicted on especially aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor.

According to investigators, a mother notified authorities on Oct. 14, 2016, when she found video on a cell phone showing a male acquaintance performing sex acts on her baby daughter. Investigators identified Hayes in the video and said Ice was the person taking the video.

The case is being handled by Asst. Dist. Atty. Lessie Rainey of the DA’s Special Victims Unit which prosecutes cases of child sexual abuse and severe physical abuse of child victims; rape and aggravated rape of adult victims, and abuse of elderly and vulnerable adults.
