INDIANAPOLIS – On July 2, 2015, at approximately 11:51p.m., officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were dispatched to the 500 block of North Lynn Street on the report of a person shot. When officers arrived, they found a male outside of a residence with a gunshot wound to the head. This victim was transported to Eskenazi Hospital, where he later died of his injuries.

At approximately 11:56 p.m., IMPD officers were notified that 3 additional victims had been driven to Eskenazi Hospital with gunshot wounds. The victims indicated they, too, had been shot in the 500 block of North Lynn Street. These victims are currently being treated for non-life threatening injuries.

At this time, IMPD Homicide investigators are canvassing the area for witnesses and potential evidence. Investigators believe the victims were shot while standing in the front yard of an abandoned house by individuals in a passing vehicle. Investigators do not believe this to be a random act; however, the details surrounding the shooting are still under investigation.

The Indianapolis-Marion County Forensic Services Agency arrived to process the crime scene and gather forensic evidence. The victim’s identity is not being released at this time, pending positive identification and family notifications. More information will be released once investigators have an opportunity to conclude their investigation at the crime scene.
