Booneville, KY – The Kentucky State Police, Richmond Post was called just before 2:00 a.m. EDT, on Wednesday, May 25, 2016, in reference to a fire on Old KY-11 in Owsley County. The initial caller reported that a young child was
unable to escape and might still be inside the residence.
After the fire was extinguished, a search of the residence was conducted, and the remains of a young girl were located.
The child was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Owsley County Coroner, and will be taken to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Frankfort for an autopsy. The cause of the fire is unknown and the ongoing investigation is being conducted by KSP Detectives.
