NYPD Transit Police Officers Mario Dorcilien and James Hyacinthe have befriended 7-year-old Dayshawn, an honor student in Brooklyn.

The two officers, who work midnights keeping New York City subways safe, are greeted every morning with a big hug and kind words from by Dayshawn as he makes his way to school.

As Officers Dorcilien and Hyacinthe near the end of their tour they are always happy to hear Dayshawn remind them that he loves the police and all the work they do. He also updates the two Finest on his schoolwork and was excited to announce that he was named student of the month.

Inspired by the Dayshawn’s outstanding work in school and the holiday season, the officers decided to raise money to surprise him with his very own tablet.

The officers hope the tablet will help ensure that he continues to keep excelling academically.
