COLUMBUS -- Police at Ohio State University are investigating a 'self-inflicted shooting' that happened at the Wexner Arts Center for Arts Sunday.

SUFFOLK COUNTY, NY — Suffolk County Crime Stoppers, Suffolk County Police detectives and the Suffolk County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals are seeking the public’s help to identify the person or people who killed two cats in East Patchogue.

Two feral cats that were being cared for by a resident of Corbin Avenue were killed sometime between October 9 at 11 p.m. and October 10 at 11 a.m.

Both cats were discovered on the resident’s lawn.

“This is a vicious, heinous act of animal cruelty and how anyone could do this to these innocent cats is beyond reason,” the Suffolk County SPCA said in a statement.

From NBC-NY: Animal care officials say a necropsy showed one of the cats, a 6- to 8-week-old kitten, had been severed in half; they said the damage was done by a human, not by another animal.

The other feline, an adult male, died from blunt force trauma, officials said. It was not hit by a car.

The investigation is ongoing.
