An aspiring weatherman started a forest fire then filmed himself reporting from the scene in an attempt to draw fans to his Facebook page.

Johnny Mullins started the blaze in Jenkins, Kentucky.

He’s been charged with second-degree arson in connection with a blaze in Letcher County, according to police.

Mullins posted videos on Facebook that were recorded in front of various fires.

He called his reports “Weather Outlook” segments, and he has nearly 5,000 views on a video he posted November 6.

“It’s really too bad because he’s not a bad kid — he’s just misguided,” said Jenkins Police Chief James Stephens. “He didn’t realize how much danger he was putting other people in.”

He is facing one count of second degree arson.

Mullins was arrested after posting the video which has now gained 2,400 views.

‘He likes to do Facebook videos and have people follow him on his ‘weather forecast,’ so that’s pretty much why he did what he did. – he enjoyed the attention he got from the Facebook stuff.”

‘He didn’t realize how much danger he was putting other people in,’ Jenkins Police Department Chief James Stephens told The Lexington Herald Leader.
