The Chancellor of Austria has said that all migrants trying to enter Europe should be sent back.

Chancellor Werner Feymann said that border patrol agents should save everyone who crosses the Mediterranean Sea to reach the Europe, but should she immediately deport them.

He said in an address that Austria will extend its border controls if Turkey does not take back migrants on their way to Greece.

Chancellor Feymann also said that sending back migrants to Turkey is the only measure that would make a significant impact.

‘The EU’s border agency must pick up the people fleeing to Greece. We have to save all of them, but then these people should be sent directly to Turkey.’

Austria will soon introduce new border controls at a key crossing point on its south-eastern border, which aims at making the country less attractive to migrants.

Vienna says it wants to limit new asylum applications this year to 37,500, though that figure might be reached by the summer.

He went on to say Turkey must make a decision by February 18th.

Under the plan, all migrants arriving through the Greek islands would be returned to Turkey.
