Escondido, CALIFORNIA — Authorities were responding to San Pasqual Academy for a homemade bomb explosion on Thursday.

Deputies got the call ‘around 9:15 a.m. after getting word of a reported threat to the school’, NBC San Diego reported.

The explosive was reportedly being assembled by a student when he was caught by a teacher.

The teacher retrieved the device and threw it before it exploded. No one was injured.

Students were rushed to a safe place in the school and were told what happened.

The building was on lockdown as officials search for other threats.

The bomb was made with household cleaning products and aluminum foil, one report said.

It was unclear what charges the student faces.

According to the school’s website, “San Pasqual Academy is a first-in-the-nation residential education campus designed specifically for foster teens.”
