A security guard at the front door of the Zoo is keeping media out. Reporters at ABC7 in San Francisco bought a ticket and captured this image with their phones.

“Surprised they came up today because they’re really in mourning,” said a zoo visitor. “The five females all came out and went to different parts of the enclosure and just sat, sort of like they were looking, like they were wondering what had gone on,” said zoo visitor Joan Skinner. ABC7

EARLIER: Kabibe, a one year old gorilla was being put into her sleeping area, when she ran out & was crushed by a closing hydraulic door, killing the animal. The gorilla was a rare example of a captivity birth & a star attraction.

This is the latest in a string of incidents involving San Francisco Zoo animals.
