HOUSTON – U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers arrested a passenger at the George Bush Intercontinental Airport with an outstanding federal arrest warrant on Sept. 11.

The traveler, a 34-year-old lawful permanent resident, attempted to depart the United States to Mexico with a final destination of Cuba. He was wanted for murder in Los Angeles County, California when CBP officers arrested him.

“There are times during the course of routine operations that we may encounter persons wanted by other law enforcement agencies; when that occurs, we take the appropriate law enforcement action,” said Area Port Director Charles G. Perez.

CBP officers turned the traveler over to Houston Police Department for extradition to Los Angeles, California.

On a typical day in 2015, CBP officers arrested 23 wanted persons per day at U.S. ports of entry around the country.
