Border Agents Arrest Previously Deported Convicted Child Sex Offender

TUCSON, Ariz. – Border Patrol agents from the Casa Grande Station arrested a 35-year-old Mexican man Friday near Sells, Arizona, and later learned he been convicted in California for sex crimes against a minor.

Agents arrested Aaron Sarmiento-Sanchez for being illegally present in the United States and, during processing, found he was arrested on June 7, 2006, by the Salinas County Sheriff’s Office on two counts of “lewd or lascivious acts with a child under 14 years of age.” He was sentenced to six years imprisonment and a fine, with an additional sentence of two consecutive years.

On April 8, 2013, Sarmiento was removed from the United States. He now faces prosecution for criminal illegal re-entry into the U.S.
