PHARR, Texas—U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Field Operations (OFO) at the Pharr International Bridge cargo facility discovered 615 pounds of alleged methamphetamine within a commercial trailer.
“This seizure is an outstanding discovery and is the largest meth seizure in our port’s history. Our officers ability to detect inconsistencies and their attention to detail continues to pay off. Our officers remain vigilant and dedicated to the CBP mission,” said (A) Port Director Javier Cantu, Hidalgo/Pharr/Anzalduas Port of Entry.
The seizure occurred on March 3, when CBP officers assigned to the Pharr International Bridge cargo facility encountered a white 2004 Freightliner tractor trailer. After the conveyance was referred for a secondary inspection, CBP officers utilized a non-intrusive imagining (NII) system along with the help of a canine team to locate the narcotics. CBP officers extracted 53 bottles of cleaning solution containing a total of 615 pounds of alleged methamphetamine concealed within the trailer.
CBP OFO seized the drugs, valued at approximately $12,301,668. The case remains under investigation by Homeland Security Investigations special agents.
