DETROIT – Two Mara Salvatrucha (MS-13) gang members were arrested by Border Patrol agents in two separate incidents over a 24-hour span by U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Sandusky Bay Station in Port Clinton, Ohio.
The first incident began at about 6 p.m., on August 31st, when Border Patrol agents arrested Juan Carlos Rivera-Flores who readily admitted to being a national of El Salvador. A follow up investigation revealed that Rivera-Flores is a confirmed MS-13 gang member who has been arrested in El Salvador for possessing firearms, resisting arrest, and claiming MS-13 Gang affiliation.
The second arrest took place at approximately 11:30 a.m. on September 1st, when Border Patrol agents encountered MS-13 gang member Wilson Antonio Miranda-Rivera who readily admitted to being illegally present in the United States. Records checks revealed a lengthy criminal history which includes a felony conviction for terrorist threats along with numerous arrests for illegal re-entry into the United States.
“These arrests serve as a prime example of our agency’s commitment to prevent dangerous people from living in our communities,” said Chief Patrol Agent Douglas Harrison. “I’m extremely proud of our agents’ diligence and dedication to duty!”
Both subjects are currently being held at Seneca County Jail pending removal proceedings.
