LOS ANGELES — A 16-year-old teenager has been charged with fatally stabbing a West Hills woman who allowed him to stay in her home, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced today.

Steven Paul Main, of Bell Canyon, was charged as an adult with one count of murder and an allegation that he used a knife in the commission of the crime.

Main entered a not guilty plea to the charge yesterday and is scheduled to return on June 24 in Department 112 of the Los Angeles County Superior Court, Van Nuys Branch.

Main is charged with stabbing Connie Cajulis, 53, multiple times on May 24, prosecutors said. The defendant then allegedly drove off in her vehicle, but crashed soon after, prosecutors added.

The victim’s body was discovered by her family when they returned home.

Main faces life in state prison if convicted as charged. Bail was set at more than $2 million.
