SLIDELL, Louisiana — Two Slidell residents are being accused of pouring beer down a 1-year-old boy’s throat, then slapping him when he would regurgitate. As a result, 24-year-old, Brett Flower, and 23-year-old Krysten Verdin, are both facing cruelty to juvenile charges.
A complaint was filed by the child’s grandfather when he began to notice signs of abuse to his 1-year-old grandson. When investigators began to question the friends and family of the accused, they discovered that on several occasions,
Mr. Flower, who is the boyfriend of Ms. Verdin, would pour beer down the child’s throat; causing him to choke and regurgitate. After the child would regurgitate the beer, the boy’s mother, Krysten Verdin, would become agitated and slap the child on the back of the head; causing him to fall on the floor.
On Tuesday, February 24, 2015, both Flower and Verdin were booked into the Slidell City Jail, and were later transported to the St. Tammany Parish Jail. The case is also being investigated by the Department of Children and Family Services.
