**UPDATE: Active shooting over. Houston police say total of 8 people shot, including 2 cops, 4 citizens; 1 suspect, 1 citizen among dead.**
Houston – Police were responding to reports of an active shooter firing a weapon near Memorial and Boheme Sunday. Reports indicate the man was held up inside a gas station firing shots at passing vehicles.
Residents were urged to shelter in place until further notice.
A large fire also broke out at a gas station across the street during the incident. It is unclear if the two are related
Swat is on scene according to scanner traffic.
Unconfirmed reports indicate police are still searching for at least one other suspect; however, this remains unconfirmed.
According to Houston Police: One suspect fatally shot by an HPD SWAT officer. A second armed suspect was wounded and taken to an area hospital in critical condition.
One suspect fatally shot one citizen and wounded three other citizens. In addition, two Harris County Precinct 5 constable deputies were shot by one or both suspects. One deputy was wounded in his tactical vest and the other was shot in the hand. Both are expected to be okay.
Chief Montalvo also stated active shooter fired shots from a high powered weapon and caused multiple bullet strikes to one of our HPD helicopters. None of the officers on the chopper was injured.
A motive for the attacks was still not known.
