NEWS RELEASE / Metropolitan Police Service — A new arrest has been made as part of the investigation being carried out by the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command into the Westminster attack.
A 30-year-old man was arrested today, Sunday, 26 March at an address in Birmingham on suspicion of preparation of terrorist acts. He was detained under TACT and currently remains in police custody.
A 58-year-old man who was arrested on 23 March on suspicion of preparation of terrorist acts and detained under TACT remains in police custody.
A 32-year-old woman was arrested on 24 March on suspicion of preparation of terrorist acts under PACE and has been released on bail until a date in late March.
Officers have carried out a total of 15 searches at various addresses in east London (two), south London (one), Brighton (one), Surrey (one), Carmarthenshire (one), Birmingham (eight) and Manchester (one). Fourteen searches have now concluded, with one ongoing at an address in Birmingham.
In total, twelve people have been arrested as part of the investigation. Nine have been released with no further action.
A 39-year-old woman [A] was arrested at an address in East London on suspicion of preparation of terrorist acts and detained under PACE. She was initially released on bail, but has since been released with no further action.
A 21-year-old woman [B] and a 23-year-old man [C] were arrested at an address in Birmingham on 23 March on suspicion of preparation of terrorist acts and detained under TACT. They have since been released with no further action.
A 26-year-old woman [D], and three men aged 28, 27 and 26 years old [E; F; G] were arrested at an address in Birmingham on 22 March on suspicion of preparation of terrorist acts and detained under TACT. They have since been released with no further action.
A 58-year-old man [H] was arrested at an address in Birmingham on 23 March on suspicion of preparation of terrorist acts and detained under TACT. He remains in police custody.
A 27-year-old man [I] was arrested at an address in Birmingham on 23 March on suspicion of preparation of terrorist acts and detained under TACT. He has since been released with no further action.
A 35-year-old man [J] was arrested at an address in Manchester on 24 March on suspicion of preparation of terrorist acts and detained under TACT. He has since been released with no further action.
A 32-year-old woman [K] was arrested on 24 March at a location in Manchester on suspicion of preparation of terrorist acts under PACE and has been released on bail until a date in late March.
A 30-year-old man [L] was arrested on 26 March at an address in Birmingham on suspicion of preparation of terrorist acts and detained under TACT. He currently remains in police custody.
