Holmdel Township, N.J. – The New Jersey State Police have arrested and charged Quran Powell, 27, of Holmdel, N.J., for shooting two men in the parking lot of the PNC Bank Arts Center after a concert.

On Monday, August 3, at 11:14 p.m., troopers responded to a shooting in parking lot 4 of the PNC Arts Center. The two male victims sustained multiple gunshot wounds and were subsequently flown to a local hospital for treatment. Both individuals were last listed in critical but stable condition.

Through various investigative means, detectives from the New Jersey State Police Troop “D” Criminal Investigations Office, Major Crimes Unit, and the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office were able to identify Quran Powell as the suspect. On Wednesday, August 5, State Police and Monmouth County detectives, along with the New Jersey State Police T.E.A.M.S Unit, executed a search warrant for Powell’s home.

Based on information obtained during of the search warrant, detectives learned that Powell was possibly hiding in an apartment in East Orange, N.J. State Police detectives and officers from the East Orange Police Department located Powell at an apartment complex located at 61 Glenwood Avenue and arrested him without incident.

Quran Powell was charged with attempted homicide (two counts), possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose, and certain persons not to possess a firearm. He was lodged at Monmouth County Jail in lieu of $750,000 with no 10% option.

This case will be prosecuted by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office. The investigation is active and ongoing, and there is no further information available at this time.

Charges are mere accusations and the suspect is considered innocent until proven guilty.
