INDIANAPOLIS — An Officer with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department was shot on-duty Monday.
The incident began as a traffic stop on the city’s northwest side and the Officer was struck by gunfire.
A police pursuit reportedly ensued before ending at Newton Avenue and Rural Street.
ISP Sergeant John Perrine Tweeted one officer was shot and another was injured.
IMPD said the Officer who was shot suffered non-life threatening injuries and is alert and conscious at the hospital.
IMPD later Tweeted: “There is no threat to the community at this time … The suspect has been shot and is down.” The unidentified suspect was later confirmed dead by police.
