A British soldier has been shot dead during a live firing exercise at a military training base in Northumberland.
Police were dispatched to Otterburn firing range at around 11.15pm on Monday night.
The soldier had received a serious head wound and was later pronounced dead by paramedics.
Military officials have informed the soldier’s family.
Police have confirmed they are working with the Ministry of Defence to establish the circumstances of the incident.
