DAYTONA BEACH, Florida — Officers with the Daytona Beach police department shot a man armed with a rifle inside of a Walgreens pharmacy Tuesday afternoon.
According to initial reports, the gunman walked into the Walgreens — located at 100 S. Ridgewood Avenue — confronted employees and demanded narcotics. The employees complied.
When officers arrived, the suspect was seen injecting himself with an unknown substance.
Officers confronted the man who then picked up the rifle. He ignored commands to drop the weapon and was shot at least once.

The unidentified suspect was taken to a hospital where he is expected to survive his injuries. Charges are pending.
No other injuries were reported.
