CALIFORNIA — Cuba Gooding Sr., father of actor Cuba Gooding Jr., has died at the age of 72, reports say.
TMZ broke the news: Law enforcement sources tell us Cuba Gooding Jr.’s dad was slumped over in his silver Jaguar, parked on Ventura Blvd in Woodland Hills, CA. We’re told the fire department responded to the scene at 12:58 PM PT and attempted CPR, but could not resuscitate him.
Police found open containers of alcohol in the car and suspect the recording artist may have died from an overdose.
The investigation is ongoing.
Gooding Sr. was the lead singer of the soul group The Main Ingredient, most notable for its two biggest hits, “Everybody Plays the Fool” and “Just Don’t Want to Be Lonely”.
