Elton John is reportedly battling a rare bacterial infection that required intensive care treatment, prompting the music icon to cancel upcoming performances in Las Vegas.
Variety reported: According to the statement from Rogers and Cowan, after his South American tour, John contracted a rare bacterial infection, and became “violently ill” on his flight home from Chile. He was admitted to the hospital when he returned home to the U.K., and spent two nights in intensive care.
“I am so fortunate to have the most incredible and loyal fans and apologize for disappointing them. I am extremely grateful to the medical team for their excellence in looking after me so well,” John said in a statement.
He is expected to make a full recovery.
