FAA: Air Force F-16 Collides With Private Plane In S.C.

Berkeley County, South Carolina — Fire Officials say two planes crash-landed in Berkeley County Tuesday morning, leaving two people dead.

At 11:03 AM, a call was made to dispatch about a collision of two aircrafts – a military aircraft and a small, private aircraft.

The two aircraft’s involved are an Air Force F-16 and a private Cessna, the FAA confirmed.

The pilot of the military aircraft ejected safely and was in route to a local hospital. The two passengers aboard the Cessna died and the plane was destroyed.

The Air Force pilot was identified as Maj. Aaron Johnson from Shaw Air Force Base.

According to WSFB, the crash was in a rice field.

The state Department of Natural Resources is also responding, WYFF4 reported.

The cause of the crash is unknown. Witness reported seeing a massive fire-ball in the sky.
