TROUP COUNTY, Georgia — A Troup county Sheriff’s deputy was struck by gunfire while conducting a welfare check Monday.
The suspect is now barricaded in a home on Jackson Street.
SWAT has set up a perimeter.
According to WSB-TV, the deputy ‘was hit in the forehead, elbow and waist by pellets from a shotgun.’

The wounded officer was taken to a hospital where he is expected to survive.
