Chicago — The Lollapalooza music festival was evacuated as a hail-producing storm system passes through the Chicago area.

UPDATE: The gates will officially reopen at 3:30. The music will resume at 4.

The event said on their website: FOR FAN SAFETY, LOLLAPALOOZA WILL BRIEFLY EVACUATE FOR A SMALL STORM. PLEASE HEAD TO THE NEAREST EXIT AND FOLLOW LOLLA SOCIAL MEDIA AND WWW.LOLLAPALOOZA.COM/EMERGENCY FOR UPDATES.

While we’re all here to have a great time and enjoy the music, the main priority is of course the safety of festival-goers. In case of a weather evacuation, all attendees should follow the instructions of public safety officials.

The National Weather Service issued a brief severe thunderstorm warning for parts of Cook and DuPage counties.

A severe thunderstorm was located just over Bartlett or Carol Stream in the northwest suburbs, the weather service said.

The weather service advises people to move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building.
