FLORIDA — Orlando police received a call Thursday that a black man was randomly shooting at people at a Walmart Superstore on Princeton Street.

As the first arriving officer approached the suspect, he pointed his gun at the officer and opened fire. The officer returned fire and the suspect was struck several times–he was transported from the scene in an unknown condition.

Police say at least two people were shot by what turned out to be a BB gun. Their wounds are not serious.

“I’ve looked at the gun myself. It looks real,” Orlando police Chief John Mina said at a press conference.

The officer’s name was not immediately released.

The Florida Dept. of Law Enforcement will take over the investigation.
