Two Chicago police officers were wounded by gunfire Tuesday night, one was struck in the back and one in the arm.

The scene unfolded on the city’s South Side—in the Back of the Yards neighborhood. There was a large police presence at 43rd and Ashland.

The conditions of the injured officers was unknown, they were taken to Stroger Hospital. It was also unclear what led up to the shooting.

Scanner traffic indicated K9 teams requested in the search for suspects.

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel and other officials went to the hospital to show support.
