North Korea launched a missile from it’s East Coast early Monday, the South Korean military said. The missile traveled about 6 miles after launch before crashing into the Sea of Japan.

South Korean President Moon has ordered a National Security Council meeting in response.

A White House National security spokesman said in a statement, “The United States government is aware, The President has been briefed.”

There have been a number of North Korean missile tests in recent years—this being the 9th of 2017. North Korea has also fired a number of short-range missiles into the Sea of Japan (East Sea of Korea).
