ABINGDON, Maryland — Two deputies were involved in a shooting in Abingdon on Wednesday, the Harford Country Sheriff’s office confirmed. The scene is at the Wegmans store located in a shopping complex.
According to scanner traffic, two officers were confirmed down, one of the officers received CPR at the scene.
A suspect has reportedly been detained, possibly fatally shot. Authorities advised people to avoid the surrounding area. Some nearby businesses were sheltering in place.
At least one person was airlifted to a local hospital, the extent of their injuries is not yet known.
The sheriff’s Office released a statement of Facebook: “Deputies have been involved in a shooting in the area of the Abingdon Wegmans. The PIO is enroute to the scene. We will advise about a staging area when available.”
