The shooting followed a pursuit, and the trooper had fired shots in defence from his own car. Following the shooting, the suspect’s car rammed into a school bus, which caught on fire. The bus company has now confirmed that no children were on the bus at the time of the crash, and that the driver is okay.

PennDOT has reported that the eastbound and westbound I-76 travel lanes have reopened to traffic. The ramps from I-76 to I-676 remain closed.

Mayor Michael Nutter said at the hospital that he spoke with the trooper, who remains in stable condition. The school bus fire is out, although the area remains a crime scene.

NOTE: This is a developing story, further details will be added as they become available.
