St. Charles Parish, Louisiana — Fire fighters are currently working to contain a large fire burning the train tracks near the Bonnet Carré spillway.
The first reports of the fire were received at around 8:20a.m. from workers on the tracks.
Employees were conducting grinding work on the track, they then spotted a small fire.
Officials confirmed that they attempted to extinguish the fire but were unsuccessful.
St Charles and St John the Baptist Parish Fire Departments are both at the scene.
Firefighters have said that they have contained the fire and are currently working to prevent it from spreading.
The interstate has not been closed.
