WNBC reported: After shooting the victims — many of them, if not all, doctors — Bello tried to set himself on fire on the 17th floor of the hospital, O’Neill said. The hospital’s fire alarm system activated, and FDNY firefighters were on standby outside the hospital as NYPD executed its active shooter protocol.

The suspect was later found dead on an upper floor by a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Sources say Bello was a former employee who was recently terminated for harassing a fellow worker. He had at least three prior arrests, one for sexual abuse.

The incident is not believed to be terror-related, the FBI said.

An extremely graphic image appears to show Bello deceased inside the hospital.
