Statement from the Memphis Police Department: 29-year-old Tremaine Wilbourn is in custody!!
Today at approximately 4:53pm, the Director of Police Services, Toney Armstrong, was contacted and advised that Wilbourn turned himself in to the US Marshals’ Office at the Federal Building.
Wilbourn has since been taken into custody and is currently in our Homicide Bureau for further investigation.
Additional information will be provided as it becomes available, but at this point we do not have any further details to release concerning this incident.
“I would again like to thank everyone, the citizens of Memphis, residents abroad and fellow law enforcement agencies who have reached out with prayers, condolences and support.
In particular, I want to thank the officers of the Memphis Police Department and the US Marshals’ services for their tireless efforts,” said Director Armstrong.
“I also want to thank everyone who has assisted in spreading the word and who assisted in the search; I am sure in some way this aided in Wilbourn surrendering.”
