DETAILS: Pilot Dead After Plane Crashes Into 2 Homes In Seagoville

Police have confirmed that the pilot of a small aircraft is dead after crashing into two homes and then into an open field Thursday evening in Seagoville, Texas.

The pilot was trying to land the craft at Mesquite Airport before losing contact with air traffic control at 6:17 p.m., according to the Federal Aviation Administration. There were no  passengers in the plane.

The plane crashed between two homes near the intersection of Ballard Road and Bent Tree Road and landed onto private property. The plane landed about 50 yards from a home, Captain Ray Caverley of Seagoville Police Department said.

There were no injuries on the ground and no significant damage was done to the two homes.

Dallas and Seagoville Police were on the scene, in addition to local search crews. The FAA is investigating the crash.
