New York- A small plane has reportedly crashed into the Hudson River in Manhattan, New York near West 79th St. FDNY, NYPD, and the USCG are responding with numerous boats to search for survivors. Multiple NYPD divers are in the water searching. It is believed that only one person is on board the aircraft.
According to scanner traffic the plane is completely submerged.
Air Traffic Control reports the plane is a P46 Thunderbolt. The Republic P-47 Thunderbolt is one of the largest and heaviest fighter aircraft in history to be powered by a single 4-stroke internal combustion engine. It was built from 1941–1945.
