MINNEAPOLIS — Five protesters were shot after gunfire erupted late Monday night near the Black Lives Matter protest at the Fourth Precinct police station.

At 10:41 pm , Minneapolis Police responded to 1400 Morgan Avenue North on the sound of multiple shots fired in the area of 1400 Morgan Avenue North.

Shortly after, numerous 911 calls came in reporting that 5 people had been shot at 14th and Morgan.  This is located one block north of the Minneapolis Police Department’s 4th Precinct.

Dozens of officers responded almost immediately attending to victims and secured the scene.

Police have arrested a 23-year-old white male and a Hispanic male, 32, in the shootings, additional suspects are being sought. The police are asking that anyone with information to please come forward.

Black Lives Matter Minneapolis posted a video to their Facebook page on November 20th showing two armed white men claiming to be driving to the protest. It is not known if these two men were the shooters.

The group posted the video with the statement: “Last night 2 white supremacists, one carrying a pistol, showed up to our peaceful protest at the 4th precinct.

After community members on livestream started questioning them they left without incident, then we later found a video of them en route to the protest brandishing a pistol and making comments including “stay white” and justifying the killing of Jamar Clark.

It has come to our attention that members of this group plan on returning tonight to our candlelight vigil at 4:30, some may come armed.”

CAUTION: Video contains offensive language.

Three of the victims were transported to North Memorial Medical Center by a private vehicle. These three were described as having non-life threatening injuries. Two additional victims were transported to the Hennepin County Medical Center by ambulance with non-life threatening injuries.

Black Lives Matter activists have been protesting the death of Jamar Clark, 24, a black man shot in the head by police on Nov. 15.
