A police officer is dead following an officer-involved shooting in Ogden, Utah Thursday afternoon.

The deadly incident took place when officers responded to a call in the 300 block of Jackson Avenue and 3rd Street. The call was from a woman who told dispatchers her husband threatened to kill her.

The officer, only a 15-month veteran of the force, was fatally shot in an exchange of gunfire. A parole officer on scene was also struck by non-fatal gunfire.

The suspect was found dead in the home—it was unclear if the suspect killed himself or was fatally wounded by the officer.

The Ogden Police Chief said, “Our hearts are broken. We’ve lost one of our own. […] Let us not forget such fine men and women who offer themselves up for this fine and noble calling.”

The names of those involved were not released.
