BREAKING: Police Officer Shot While Executing Warrant

NORTHGLENN, Colorado — A Northglenn Police Officer was shot Thursday morning while attempting to serve a narcotics arrest warrant.

The incident went down around 10:00 a.m. local time in the 10900 block of East 109th Place.

The Officer were executing a “no-knock” warrant execution when the suspect opened fire on the officers. The Officers returned fire, killing the suspect.

The wounded Officer was with the Northglenn SWAT team. He was hit in the arm and the leg. He was transported in stable condition to a nearby hospital, said Sara Farris, a spokeswoman for North Metro Fire Rescue.

The deceased suspect was only described as an adult male.

Officers had been investigating the address for cocaine sales and there were known gang affiliations, according to KDVR.

Police said eight people were taken into custody and three juveniles were inside the home.

No further details were available.

Northglenn is a Home Rule Municipality in Adams and Weld counties in Colorado.
