TENNESSEE — Police were rushing to the scene of an active shooter at a Nashville-area Church Sunday afternoon. Police say one woman was killed and seven others were wounded—including the gunman.

According to the Tennessean, around 11:15 a.m., ‘police began receiving calls that multiple shots were fired with people apparently shot at Burnette Chapel Church of Christ.’ The scene is at 3890 Pin Hook Rd, in Antioch.

The gunman has been identified as Emanuel Samson, black male, 25, of Rutherford County.

Initial scanner traffic indicated Samson wore a ‘clown mask.’ A motive for the crime was not known.

On what appears to Samson’s Facebook page, a series of posts were made just prior to the attack on the Churchgoers: “You are more than what they told us.” – “Become the creator instead of what’s created. Whatever you say, goes.” – “Everything you’ve ever doubted or made to be believe as false, is real. & vice versa, B.”

Witnesses described a graphic scene, watch below.

Nashville Mayor Megan Barry issued the following statement on the incident: “This is a terrible tragedy for our city. My heart aches for the family and friends of the deceased as well as for the wounded victims and their loved ones. Their lives have been forever changed, as has the life of their faith community at Burnette Chapel Church of Christ. My administration, especially the Metro Nashville Police Department, will continue to work with community members to stop crime before it starts, encourage peaceful conflict resolution, and promote non-violence.”
