A Millersville, Tennessee police officer pulled the men over on Interstate 65 southbound for a registration violation, but let them go after they claimed they had to immediately put the child to rest because of their Islamic faith.
For “religious reasons”, the men wouldn’t let the officer see or touch the child.
The men told police they were heading to a mosque. Police have called several middle Tennessee mosques. So far, none have reported seeing the three men or the baby.
Millersville Police Chief David Hindman said the officer who pulled the men over had only been on the job for 5 months. He has been disciplined for his actions, but will keep his job. Hindman did not specify what disciplinary action was taken.
Police are now looking for the car, which has a temporary tag. At this time, no charges have been filed.
