[UPDATE: Third floor of Destiny USA mall reopened after being evacuated]
NEW YORK — The third floor of the Destiny USA mall in Syracuse was cleared on Thursday as police conducted an investigation.
The Mall released the following statement: “This afternoon, we were contacted by the Syracuse Police Department. We are cooperating fully, and out of an abundance of caution, the Syracuse Police Department has asked us to have customers refrain from using the third level at Destiny USA while they complete their investigation. Accordingly, the third floor has been temporarily closed until the investigation is complete. We will provide you with updates as we are able.”
CNY Central reported: ‘Mall officials said it will share more information as it becomes available. CNYCentral viewers attending a screening at the movie theater located on that level said the movie was abruptly stopped and the theater closed down, and all the patrons were ushered out. As they were taken out, viewers said they saw what appeared to be K-9 units in front of the mall.’
