BREAKING: Powerful 6.8 Magnitude Earthquake Rocks Myanmar

A powerful earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of around 6.8 has struck central Myanmar on Wednesday.

The quake struck 99 miles west of the city of Meiktila at a depth of 52 miles.

There were no immediate reports of damage or casualties.

Offices in the Thai capital of Bangkok shook for a few seconds, witnesses and residents confirmed.

Tremors were also felt in certain areas of eastern India including West Bengal, Tripura, Assam and Nagaland.

A 5.5-magnitude earthquake in the Myanmar-India border region had rocked Assam, Tripura, Mizoram, Meghalaya on Tuesday.

Myanmar (formerly Burma), is a Southeast Asian nation of more than 100 ethnic groups, bordering India, Bangladesh, China, Laos and Thailand.
