There was a massive police response following reports of an active shooter and multiple victims near Mercy Hospital in Chicago Monday. The scene is at 2525 Michigan Avenue.
Four people, including the suspect, a nurse and a police officer are dead.
Following the shootout, officers conducted a ‘methodical search’ of the hospital, a spokesman said. At least 10 ambulances were dispatched.

CBS Chicago reported: Sources say the gunman first targeted a woman, who witnesses said was dressed in hospital scrubs, in the parking lot. As police officers arrived, he exchanged gunfire and then entered the hospital where the gunman died. It is not known if he was shot by an officer or died of a self-inflicted gunshot.
