Woman, year-old grandson, gunman dead in Publix shooting

ROYAL PALM BEACH, Fla. — The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office says three people are dead after a shooting inside a Florida grocery store Thursday afternoon.

Deputies responded inside the Publix grocery store in the 1100 block of Royal Palm Beach Blvd. and found three people deceased from gunshot wounds — one man, one woman and her year-old grandson. The shooter is one of the deceased.

“Detectives from the Violent Crimes Division is currently on scene investigating this shooting,” the office said in an alert. “THIS IS NOT AN ACTIVE SHOOTER SITUATION!”

“There is no known motive or relationship between the gunman and the victims, however, detectives are still investigating,” PBSO spokeswoman Teri Barbera later said.

The identities of the victims and suspect were not released.

Publix spokesperosn Maria Brous released this statement (via WPTV):

Our thoughts are with those who are impacted by this tragedy. We are cooperating with the local law enforcement. Since this is an active police investigation, we cannot confirm any additional details.
