Members of the United States Military watched as a reported gas attack was launched on civilians Tuesday in the Syrian town of Khan Sheikhoun in Idlib Province.

NBC News broke the story: The U.S. military saw the aircraft on a radar and watched them drop the bombs, the officials said. The radar soon picked up the flashes and booms in the rebel-held area of Syria. […] One official said they believe there was a combination of two agents and while they do not believe one was chlorine, he would not say what they were.

The release of the toxic gas, likely sarin, killed at least 74 people and injured more than 557, according to the Idlib health authority.

If confirmed, the attack would become the deadliest use of chemical weapons in the Syrian Civil War since the Ghouta chemical attack in 2013. President Trump has placed the blame for the attack on the forces of Syrian President Bashar Assad.
